Shared at the First Year Anniversary Celebration of the Lewis and Joan Platt East Palo Alto Family YMCA.



As the sun rises to the dawn
of a new morning.  I arise with
a breath of the fresh morning air
Inhaling and exhaling freely.
With the appreciation of the generation
that brought this freedom and diversity
to this country.  Blood, sweat and tears
all three was dripped just to get us here.
Struggles come and struggles go
but we still remain strong.  With much
pride in what we as people have
accomplished.  Although what lies ahead
is unknown like the outcome of our
lives. We strive to better ourselves.
Not only as an individual but as
a community.
