Staff Bios
Executive Director
Tim joined the El Camino YMCA in January of 2007. He began
his career at the YMCA in 1989 as a Member Service Representative
at the Marin YMCA, a branch of the YMCA of San Francisco.
Upon graduation from Sonoma State University, he became
the Teen Coordinator developing teen programs and directing
summer camps for over 500 children. Tim holds a degree
in Public Administration and a minor in Business Administration.
In 1996, Tim became the Sr. Program Director for the Mt.
Diablo Family YMCA with responsibility for 6 child care
sites, camps, teens, Y-Guides and youth arts. After a
short stint in the private sector, Tim returned as the
Executive Director of the Delta Family YMCA in Oakley,
California. When Tim is not at work, he enjoys spending
time with wife, Jackie, and their two children, Zachary
and Aynsley. They are actively involved with their children
in their school activities, little league and swim team.
Associate Executive Director
Gabriel G. Galán has been with the YMCA for over
9 years. He first started his career as a Personal Trainer
for the Southwest YMCA in Santa Clara Valley and continued
his career within the Santa Clara Valley Association.
In 2006, Gabriel transferred to the Mid Peninsula Association
and has been with the El Camino YMCA since February of
2006. He started as the Senior Healthy Lifestyles Director
and later was promoted to Associate Executive Director.
Gabriel has a strong passion for the YMCA and its mission.
He currently holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business
with an emphasis in Management. He has held several management
positions throughout his career and tenure with the YMCA.
Gabriel enjoys spending time with his two sons Alex and
Jacob. You can always find him on the trails mountain
biking.
Senior Program Director
Jenny-Rebecca began her YMCA career in 1999 as a childcare counselor in Plymouth, Massachusetts. She held several positions throughout the Old Colony YMCA Association including Program Director, Camp Director and Senior Program Director for the Youth Division. After a short hiatus working in the for profit sector, she is now back at the YMCA as the Senior Program Director for the El Camino YMCA.
Jenny-Rebecca holds a BA in Psychology and Business from Elmira College. She recently moved to California with her husband and is extremely excited to rejoin the YMCA family. She enjoys spending time with my family, hiking and traveling.
Director of Administration
Nicole joined the El Camino YMCA in 1998. She started
her Y career as a Member Services Associate. In 1999,
after graduation, she moved to San Diego where she then
began work for the Mission Valley YMCA. Here she worked
as the Site Director of a Government Funded Before and
After School Program; “6 to 6”. Upon return
to the Bay Area in 2005, Nicole was lucky enough to start
work up again at her home branch as the Child Care Coordinator.
Over the past 2 years, Nicole has had the opportunity
to work in many departments of the branch. Currently,
Nicole works as the Senior Program Administrator. In her
spare time, Nicole loves to travel and if it’s not
a Tuesday night (family dinner night; 30 somethin’
year tradition) can occasionally be found cheering on
local sports teams.
Membership Director
Kathy Corpuz began her YMCA career in 2002 with the Central
Florida YMCA in Orlando, Florida. She held several positions
there, including Association Marketing Coordinator for
23 branches, Membership Director, and Association Training
Specialist. Kathy is committed to the YMCA’s mission
and its core values. She holds a B.A. in Communications
with a minor in Psychology from the University of North
Florida. She recently moved to California with her husband,
Jerry, and son, Jordan, to accept the Membership Director
position for the El Camino YMCA. She is honored to continue
growing her career with the YMCA and will focus her efforts
on creating an atmosphere of service excellence and utmost
safety for all members, guests and visitors. When she’s
not at work, Kathy enjoys spending time with family and
friends, visiting the beach, and traveling to Hawaii.
Healthy Lifestyles Director
Wendy Fortino truly believes in the mission that this organization brings to the community. Wendy is very passionate about health and wellness, and has worked with a wide range of populations, including coaching gymnastics to youth and working as an Assistant Wellness Director at a senior living facility. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from CSU Stanislaus and a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where her studies focused on Exercise Science and Health Promotion. She is also a certified personal trainer through American College of Sports Medicine and enjoys teaching and motivating people to accomplish their goals. Wendy has a lot of experience working with individuals who are new to exercise. She loves to see success in these individuals as well as those who are preparing for a serious sports competition. She believes that wellness is multi-dimensional and includes multiple components such as intellectual, social, vocational, physical and emotional well-being. Wendy has been a dedicated gymnast, dancer, and track athlete her whole life and still enjoys running and competing for the Asics Aggies Running Club. Wendy credits her strength and determination to her incredibly supportive family.
Trenton Hill
Sports Director
Trenton Hill has been working for the El Camino YMCA since
the winter of 1998. Since starting out as a new referee,
he has moved his way up and held various positions in
Youth Sports and Summer Camps. Additionally, he served
5 years in the Kids’ Place after school child care
program, including 3 years as a Site Director at Oak and
Slater Elementary schools. Trenton received a B.A. in
Communication Studies with a minor in Business Marketing
from San Jose State University. He is always constantly
looking for opportunities to learn and further his personal
growth. Employed since High School, the YMCA has been
an excellent guide and resource for his personal and professional
development. In his free time, Trenton enjoys spending
time with friends and family, playing all sports, working
with computers, and attending SF Giants baseball and Stanford
Men’s Basketball games.
Jeff Umscheid
Aquatics Director
Jeff Umscheid has been involved with Aquatics since 2002 where he worked as a lifeguard for Six Flags. Since 2005, Jeff has been supervising Aquatics from Six Flags in Concord, CA to Raging Waters in San Jose, CA. While studying at San Jose State University, he worked at many pools and taught swim lessons to children with differing abilities at the Southwest YMCA in San Jose. Jeff received his Bachelor of Science in Commercial Recreation and Tourism. Jeff has also been an advocate for the Aquatics domain as the Aquatics Section Representative for District IV of the California Parks and Recreation Society which serves San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties. Before Jeff joined the YMCA he served as the Sports and Recreation Director at the Jewish Community Center in Los Gatos, CA. Jeff has many interests which include flying small airplanes, ice skating, watching ice hockey, and playing a game or two as well! Or, you can always find Jeff in his kitchen creating a gourmet meal, or baking something sweet.
