At the Palo Alto Family YMCA there are many ways to reach your fitness goals. You can work one on one with a certified YMCA personal trainer for support, guidance and motivation. Fit Checks are available to evaluate your cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, and muscular strength. And if you are new to exercise or are returning after an extended absence there is a personal fitness program designed for you.

->Personal Training

Personal Training is a one-on-one training opportunity to assist you in moving toward your total fitness goals. A Certified Personal Trainer develops an exercise program to fit your individual needs and goals, and guides you through your workout, monitoring your every move to make sure you are getting the most out of your training.

->Fitness Testing

Full Test or Body Fat Only - This is a great way to set realistic goals and measure progress. This is also an excellent tool for athletes or individuals interested in competitive sports, or fitness. It is recommended that fitness assessments be repeated every six months. The purpose of the fitness testing program is to evaluate cardiorespiratory fitness, body composition, flexibility, and muscular strength and endurance.

->Fitness Coaching

Adult Coaching is available to both new and long time members to help you become familiar with the Wellness Center. Teen Coaching sessions are necessary before teens can workout in the Wellness center.

->Personal Fitness Program

12 Weeks to a Better You - Meet with a Personal Fitness instructor one-on-one to guide and motivate you towards integrating regular exercise into your lifestyle. This program is designed for people who are new to exercise or who are returning after an extended absence. Special attention is given to proper exercise form and avoiding injury. This program is free with a facility membership.

->W.O.W.

W.O.W. - Work Out & Weight Loss: A ten week program with lectures, group exercise sessions and goal setting to motivate and support participants to healthy habits and a regular exercise routine for life. Pre and post measurements give overall progress of participants.

W.O.W. Refresh

W.O.W. Refresh is for members who have attended the W.O.W class at least once before.
